St. Francis squeaks by St. Peters in the Semi-final game
With a 10-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning, two outs and a man on first, it looked like an easy victory for St. Francis. But St. Peters was not done . A walk, singles by N. Pecora and R. Shellhammer and a home run by R Hrapsky and the score was now 10-9. Kyle Lankey came in to pitch for St. Francis and gave up a single to R. Zisk. With the tying run on first base, Lankey struck out the next batter for the save.
St. Matthews beats St. Francis in a 10 inning pitcher's duel
St. Matthews scored in the top of the first inning on two walks and singles by Muldowney and Lorfing to take a 1-0 lead. This would be the only scoring until the bottom of the seventh inning. St. Francis was able to tie the game with a walk, an error and a double by Brian Matusiak. With two outs and the winning run on third base, St. Matthews was able to strike out the St. Francis batter.
Neither team was able to score in the 8th and 9th innings. In the top of the tenth, St. Francis got the first two outs. Then singles by Symansky and Nastawa put men on first and third. St. Francis decided to intentionally walk Augustine, and this backfired as Lorfing hit a three run double. A single by Yetsko added an insurance run before St. Francis was able to get the last out. St. Matthews then set down the side for the win.
